Greeks Care Recycling Initiative
Greeks Care is a member-driven recycling initiative within the Washington University fraternity system.  Started in 2004 by a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Greeks Care was established to promote environmental responsibility throughout the Greek Community.  Since its inception, the program has expanded into all eleven on-campus fraternities and forged partnerships with the Interfraternity Council as well as Green Action, WashU's environmental sustainability organization.  Recently, Greeks Care teamed up with The Recycle Challenge to help the WashU fraternities benefit the local community through its recycling efforts.  At the end of each month, The Recycle Challenge collects aluminum cans from the fraternity houses and then donates the remittance money received from recycling the cans to Loop In Motion, a non-profit organization that brings artistic and cultural opportunities to the St. Louis metropolitan area.  Greeks Care looks forward to expanding its recycling efforts in the near future by involving the WashU sororities, standardizing educational programs and serving as a model for student-run recycling on campus.
